Rachel Alderson
Associate
Rachel is an Associate within our Clinical Negligence department.
Rachel joined the Clinical Negligence team at Ison Harrison in January 2020. She has over 10 years’ experience working in Clinical Negligence and deals with a variety of high value cases including birth injury, orthopaedic, delays in diagnosis and treatment, and surgical errors. She regularly conducts six and seven figure claims.
Clinical negligence claims are often complex and require medically technical evidence to support them. Rachel prides herself on being able to explain in layman’s terms the evidence and the effects of that evidence to her clients so that they fully understand what has happened to them. Whilst making a claim cannot undo the negligence or change the outcome, Rachel is pleased when she can answer her clients’ questions, help them understand what has happened and assist them in obtaining the funds required to put in place appropriate rehabilitation and care.
Rachel has been a Trustee for https://www.headwayhuddersfield.com/ for several years and their Treasurer since 2019. Headway Huddersfield & District is a branch of Headway UK. Rachel is passionate about the work she does with Headway Huddersfield & District. The lives of brain injury survivors are significantly changed by their injury, with many of their members becoming socially isolated. The charity aims to improve the lives of brain injury survivors, their carers and their families. They host monthly social events which give members the opportunity to socialise and participate safely in activities, such as, bowling, meals out, games nights and golf. They have annual events such as a canal boat trip, Summer Ball and Christmas dinner. During lockdown they provided monthly zoom meetings to help members keep in touch and with the sponsorship of Ison Harrison and PIC Ltd, they were able to host their annual Christmas Dinner event on Zoom and each member was provided with a Christmas Dinner delivered to their home.
Rachel also enjoys sharing knowledge and providing training. She has travelled as far as Uganda with the Huddersfield Law Society and provided training to lawyers on aspects of financial management, professional standards and best practice, advocacy skills and business development.
Outside of work Rachel enjoys travelling, movies and walking her beloved Westie, Lexi.
