Ms X had suffered numerous physical health conditions for which her husband acted as her primary carer.
Ms X’s physical health conditions meant that she was sedated at night whilst she slept. In 2021, after 5 years of marriage, Ms X was told by her husband that he had sexually assaulted her in her sedated sleep. Ms X had no knowledge of how long her husband had been committing these offences.
In disgust Ms X ended her marriage and reported the assaults to the Police. However, due to lack of evidence the case never proceeded to trial and Ms X’s husband was never convicted. Despite the evidentiary difficulties in the Police investigation, Ison Harrison assisted Ms X with bringing a claim to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority. She secured compensation of £22,000.00 for the sexual assaults and the psychological injury this deceit and abuse had caused her.
If you have been the victim of a physical or sexual assault, you may be entitled to compensation, even if the police have ben unable to secure a conviction of your attacker.
