Mrs R, who is now in her 50s, was raped at knifepoint by a neighbour as a child. She went to the police but the attacker was found not guilty.
She carried the pain of this with her throughout her life but eventually was approached by the police as the attacker had been accused of attacking and raping other girls. She found the courage to re-report and assist the police and gave evidence which lead to the attacker being prosecuted for all of his crimes.
Although the attack had taken place many years before and the Claim was made over 20 years after the attack, Ison Harrison were able to assist Mrs R to claim compensation from the government’s CICA Scheme and she was awarded £22,000.00.
