The sun was shining through the trees on Saturday 26th October when Katrina Stapleton and Adina Guy from our Clinical Negligence team attended the Little Hiccups Halloween themed adventure in the woods with Wilderness Adventures.
Wilderness Adventures C.I.C. is a not-for-profit forest school based predominantly in a private woodland in Kippax. Director, Nicola Cowell, and her team are passionate about the benefits of child-led outdoor learning, where children have the freedom to play, learn new skills, take managed risks, challenge themselves and both explore and connect to their natural world.
They offer a range of activities for children and families such as playgroups, drop-in sessions, private parties, forest school sessions for local special educational needs (SEN) schools and groups, seasonal activities, home education groups, corporate away days and wellness sessions for women.
Halloween Wild In The Woods
The forest has a range of areas to explore from a magical mud kitchen full of flowers and equipment for potion making, a sawdust pit which was a big hit with the children, a playdough pizza kitchen, climbing frames and swings, den making, reading corners, pumpkins, dinosaurs and diggers to name but a few of the things on offer for the children to play with.
The session ended with everyone gathered around the campfire for hot drinks and marshmallow toasting. The event was a huge success with lots of laughter, exploring and fun.
Little Hiccups
Little Hiccups is an award winning, Leeds based support group that has been set up by parents who have children with additional needs and disabilities.
Through personal experience they recognise the importance of allowing the parents and families of a child with an additional need or disability the opportunity to meet people in similar situations, to make friends and support each other.
They offer a range of support from stay n play sessions to outreach programmes for families who are not quite ready to attend a session, family fun days, parent and carer events and so much more.
Ison Harrison are proud to support the charity and the invaluable work they do. James Thompson, Director and Head of Clinical Negligence is a Trustee for the charity, and we have staff members who attend the sessions with their children.
