Fraudulent groups have been targeting innocent motorists in ‘Cash for Crash’ schemes.
It appears one of the most common types of scenarios is when a car full of ‘scammers’ suddenly stops at roundabouts and junctions ending with a vehicle ploughing into the back of them, with the passengers all making claims for whiplash injury.
These scams, it is estimated, cost the average motorist around £90on the price of their annual policies.
The most common locations for this fraudulent activity are Manchester, Bolton, Liverpool, Halifax and London.
A new initiative to help stamp out these bogus claims is being run by Crimestoppers..
