January saw the latest historic chapter in Ison Harrison’s continuing success story and we are marking the occasion with a launch event this coming Friday (3rd February) the highlight of which will be a not-to-be-missed speech.
Our Huddersfield branch opened on 30th January and is already proving a big hit with local people. Various branches in and around the Leeds area have been a big success, with people enjoying the accessibility and approachability of a top law firm right on their doorstep- offering advice on key legal issues such as residential conveyancing, family law and wills and probate.
We feel it is key to reach out to new areas, and Huddersfield has always been in our thoughts. We think it is important that people have easy access to legal advice as and when they need it, and while Leeds is a big city with great access routes, we are looking forward to providing a friendly and local service to the people of Huddersfield.
The launch event, in conjunction with the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, has been arranged at the Magic Rock Brewery (Willow Park Business Centre) on Friday 3rd February between 11.00-1.00pm. A highlight of the event will be a speech from Ruth Bundey, from our partner firm Harrison Bundey. Ruth’s team was one of those which won an Outstanding Achievement Award at the Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year Awards in 2016, recognising its work on one of the most high profile cases of the last 30 years.
Ruth represented the families of three of the victims of the 1989 Hillsborough Disaster in the historic 2016 inquests which finally provided justice for the fans and their grieving relatives.
The Hillsborough inquest was the longest in British legal history. In April 2016, the jury ruled that the 96 victims of the disaster had been unlawfully killed and there had been a ‘catalogue of failings’ by the police. Ruth will now tell the story of her role in the two-year hearing, offering a unique insight into the families’ tireless campaign for justice, and the new verdicts which paid tribute to their determination and commitment.
